So, Emily? I saw "Garden State." Finally.

In fact, we went into GameStop to buy Halo2 for my brother and it was in the movie rack, on sale, so we bought it ON YOUR WORD ALONE. You so rock. [!!!!!!!!!] [No, really. !!!!!!!!!!]

I now have a new favorite movie. [And so does my mom... I foresee us watching it many many times in the future.] It's just so... amazing! The way it's filmed, the acting [Natalie Portman can act? Who knew?], the directing, all of it combining into a perfect whole that makes me want to spend all of my waking hours watching it over and over and over. Heh. But really. Thanks. *huggles you*

Awww... I think it's just one of those movies you either hate or love.... kinda like Moulin Rouge. And heck yeah, if nothing else it certainly is interesting!

BOOYAH! I knew you'd like it. ;-) All good movie buffs would.

How about when they screamed into the abyss? Amazing stuff... I cried at that part. Don't quite know why, but there was something about it that tore into my soul, like, "This is what you need to find" or something. Because it was all about finding selves, and I have been so troubled by that lately, I guess. Ahh, ecstasy.

Speaking of ecstasy, I loved the music for the druggie bit. ;-)

Yay! Another job well done! *pats self on back*

God, I loved the screaming-into-the-abyss part. I pumped my fist in the air and nearly fell off of the couch, it just hit me that hard. There were so many things with which I could identify in it, I guess. And so so many scenes I just want to watch over and over and over.... Mmmmm...

God, the music. Again, mmmmm...

And the colors! And the acting! And the way it all fit together!

Yet another thing you've addicted me to...

O-o-o, I want to see Garden State! I hope you'll bring it to school sometime so we can have a movie party or something. ;)

Sure thing! ;)

Hopefully you'll like it. :\ Apparently it's one of those either-you-do-or-you-don't kind of deals.

Now we just have to work out a date...

Ahh, good movie. :D The shirt in the bathroom had me in stiches. I'm smiling now just remembering it.

HA! Yes! I nearly died laughing, and my mother gave me this look like, "Uh, Alex... it really wasn't that funny" and I'm practically falling off the couch...

There were just so many good scenes... I don't see how anyone couldn't like it!

It's kinda artsty at points, and a lot of people don't like that. Eh. What do they know? :D

From: [identity profile] stoopbeck.livejournal.com
Exactly! It's probably the same people who don't like Moulin Rouge! or Memento or any of those fun-but-perhaps-confusing-and-oh-so-artsy movies. Eh. They can have their simple movies.

I tell people they can hate Moulin Rouge if, and only if, they've seen the entire thing. Too many people have stopped twenty minutes into it and that's the weirdest part.

GAH, YES! Yeah, it's kinda weird, but just go with it, people! It all makes sense, I SWEAR! Just... stay with it a few minutes longer!

Personally, I loved it from the moment the orchestra played "Sound of Music." After that, I was sold.

Ah.... and now I want to rewatch Moulin Rouge.

I always say that the first twenty mintues is MR on crack. I can see how weird it is to someone the first time they see it. The the entire movie seems to finally "normalize" when Satine drops from the ceiling to sing. For some reason it's as if the crack clears up.

Watch Moulin Rouge now because you can can can...

Heck YEAH it's on crack. I remember when I got my mom to watch it for the first time, I kept reassuring her that it wasn't all like this, it did calm down just a bit later on... Luckily she enjoyed it from the get-go.

GAHHHH! Now that song... that song is stuck in my head! "Because you can can can! Because you can can can! Because you can can can can can..."

It could be worse. You could have the thong song stuck in your head. "Let me see that thonggggggg...."

Natalie Portman can act? Who knew?

I thought that when I saw Life As A House. I was like, "Wait a minute, Hayden Christenson can actually *act*!?! And this time the whinning is a good thing!"

From: [identity profile] stoopbeck.livejournal.com
HA! Exactly! I don't know what it was about Episodes I and II, but... dang. They sure didn't show Natalie and Hayden's better side. I can only hope *crosses fingers* that maybe Ep III'll be better. [please? pretty please?]

From: [identity profile] ewanspotter.livejournal.com
See, I knew going into it Natalie could act. But Hayden was so new we didn't know yet. It's unfair to really saw they're horrible actors 'cause it's not the most... eloquent script... but they did kinda suck. Have you seen Life as a House though?

Date: 2005-02-15 06:08 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoopbeck.livejournal.com
I haven't seen it, but it's on my list of must-sees. My mom watched it, though, and said Hayden's acting was great. Of course... she also liked his acting in Ep 2, so...

'cause it's not the most... eloquent script...

Heh. Heheheh.

You know, I think it's probably the directing as well. As blasphemous as it seems to say it, Lucas... has problems in that area. And in the script area. And in the character area. But I digress.

So... Life as a House is good?

Lucas isn't exactly a Baz type of director..

But yeah, LaaH is good. Britt and I have a lot of inside jokes about it. *grin*
