So, all you people who told me that I totally had to watch due South?

OH MY GOD WHY DIDN'T YOU WARN ME. "THE EGGMAN" IS LIKE THE MOST HORRIFYING THING I'VE EVER WATCHED! THEY DUNKED THE GUY IN RAW EGG OH MY GOD.

RAW EGG! I HAD TO LIE IN A DARK ROOM FOR LIKE AN HOUR! YES I HAVE ISSUES! BUT DUDE! COMPLETELY SUBMERGED! RAW EGG!!

Other than the egg thing, it's like the best show ever, for real, but dude. EGG.

Nothing can make that better. Not even baby!Mark Ruffalo or baby!Amanda Tapping or beautiful Mounties who make better women than me. NOTHING.

(I am incredibly tired and am running on very little sleep so if this makes no sense it is because I am very very tired, and very very very disturbed by the thought of being submerged in raw egg.)

It's not really a bad thing to be grossed out by that.

'Cause honestly, I'm getting a little weirded out just thinking about it right now.

I'm going to be perfectly frank: I have an egg phobia.

To the point that I was in the grocery store yesterday with my mother, and I picked up the egg carton to put it on the conveyer belt, and there was some egg smeared on the outside of the carton and I literally froze up, completely unable to cope, and Mom was like, "What?!" and I held up my hand and squeaked, "EGG!" and she was all, "OMG WIPE YOUR HAND ON MY SLEEVE" and I was all "I CAN WIPE IT ON MY OWN SLEEVE" and she was all "IT'S OKAY, REALLY, JUST USE MY SLEEVE" and yeah, trauma.

So watching this episode was kind of like watching a preview of hell. So to speak.

Oh wow.

...So, can you eat eggs or cook them...? I don't want to act like a jerk because I don't know the exact premise of your phobia.

From: [identity profile] stoopbeck.livejournal.com
I can eat them and cook with them-- I'm just very unhappy doing so. Although it's much easier to force down hard-boiled eggs than scrambled.

I mean, I can make cakes and stuff, but the egg has to be totally blended in.

I know, I know, it's like a totally insane thing to have issues about. But Alfred Hitchcock had an egg phobia, so at least I'm in good company, right? And his was way worse than mine-- he couldn't even look at eggs without freaking out.

From: [identity profile] hokkaidomary13.livejournal.com
Ah, okay. Does it also work if nobody tells you that there's egg (at least any bit that's visible) in a dish?

...And I did not know that about Alfred Hitchcock. Wow. Very good company then.

It really doesn't matter, as long as I cant taste the egg, because then I can pretend that there isn't any egg. :P

So you never ate cookie dough as a child?

Date: 2008-06-06 04:32 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoopbeck.livejournal.com
Not if it had egg in it. My mom instilled in me a perhaps over-zealous fear of salmonella when I was small. WHICH MIGHT BE WHY I'M EGG-PHOBIC, but that is neither here nor there.

I couldn't even have chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream until I got to college. I had to show it to Mom in writing that the cookie dough didn't have uncooked egg in it before she started buying some for the house.

I think my mother might've tried teaching that to me as when I snitch from the cookie dough in her presence she's like "You shouldn't do that cause it has raw egg in it." to which I reply, "How many times have I eatten cookie dough with raw eggs in it and never gotten sick." LOL To each their own I suppose.

I didn't know of your weird phobia. Else I might have warned you.

And you just wait for Dief and RayK interaction. That makes up for everything.

It's actually the least weird of my weird phobias. I am a freak. :(

THIS IS TRUE. They are so adorable!

And really I'm feeling much better about the whole egg thing. I'm just going to pretend it never ever happened. ;)

What else are you afraid of?

Just so I can warn you.

And there is a trigger for the Eggman ep in "Seeing is Believing". So consider yourself warned. ;)

I have watched Iron Man for free yesterday. :D

Um. Stairs, heights in general, baby spiders, raw meat, maggots, foods with strange textures, lobotomies, and sometimes the dark.

I will keep that in mind! *huggles*

OMG IRON MAN! How'd you luck out on that sweet deal? What'd you think about the movie?

Ahem, well. Don't watch tv then? I guess. Kind of as a general warning.

I know there are stairs and hights and raw meat and darkness in Due South. Also, I do not know what kind of texture pemikin (or how you spell that) has, but it is probably strange.

Claire works at the biggest movie theatre in Scotland and she can watch movies for free and bring someone along as long as it is not sold out. Which Iron Man wasn't anymore by now.

The movie was okay, I guess. I won't get as fanish about it as you and Sarah. I don't know the comics and I didn't like the female characters and in the middle it was a bit boring (sorry!). So I have no desire to catch up on that fandom. Maybe the next movie will be better. Overall it was entertaining, though. Especially since I didn't pay for it. :D

:P

Usually I am okay with anything involving my weird phobias on tv (otherwise I wouldn't watch any television, hee), but people being submerged in a giant vat of egg was just too overwhelming for me, apparently. Also I was watching it late at night when I was very tired, so I think that made me more emotional. Pemmican probably tastes like jerky, maybe, and I enjoy jerky. I don't like the texture that things like okra and mushrooms and chickpeas and liver have, but other textures are good.

Movies for free are always awesome. ;) I can see how Iron Man wouldn't be everybody's cup of tea, but I'm glad you at least had an entertaining experience. :D

Okay, so, random. Danny finally got to the due South episode that introduces Ray K, and the first thing Danny says after we finish the episode: "Is... is new Ray gay?!"

And I wanted to answer, "Only for Fraser, Danny," but I figured that might scar him. :D

LOL

Awesome. *pets Danny*

Hope he still likes the new Ray.

I truely without my slash goggles on believe that RayK is a bi-sexual character.

You know, Fraser is only gay with the goggles on, but Ray just doesn't care. He loves who he loves regardless of anything else. First Stella and now Fraser.

From: [identity profile] stoopbeck.livejournal.com
He didn't like the idea of a new Ray, but he's more open to him now that he's watched a couple of episodes. I had to remind him how much he hated the idea of David Tennant taking over as the Doctor, but then how much he enjoyed Tennant once he'd gotten used to him.

I totally agree. Even with my slash goggles put safely away in a drawer, I can see that Fraser is incredibly important to Ray, and that Ray has a special smile reserved just for Fraser, and I am such a fangirl.

(Also, Fraser thinks Ray is attractive, and that is canon! Yay show!)

I am glad he is warming up to RayK.

I really love him and I hate that some people didn't give him a chance just because he was replacing another character.

We are both such fangirls. And hey, it is true. Not our fault. It doesn't hurt that Callum has chemistry with a wall. *licks him*

Hehe. Yes, Fraser does!

I love my little gay show.

Seriously. And he's such a different person than Ray Vecchio that it just boggles my mind that people constantly compare them in that way. I love both Rays!

Not that there's anything wrong with being a fangirl. ;) He totally totally does. He's got enough chemistry for like five people.

The show ships RayK/Fraser! *hearts it*

Also, I need to find myself some due South icons...

From: [identity profile] roadrunner1896.livejournal.com
Yeah, but the difference is probably just the more reasons to compare them. People miss what RayV had that RayK doesn't and just keep ignoring that RayK has so much more to offer as a character. You know, as annoyed as I sometimes get with Paul trying to be slapsticky funny in season 3 and 4, as much do I love him for actually making the other characters three dimensional and giving the actors something to play with. This is probably one of the many reasons why I prefer RayK to RayV, even though I, too like RayV a lot. Just not as much as RayK, cause he wasn't that deep, so to say. It was kinda like Fraser was the only character who got to have that and that all the others were just there to show us how Fraser is and feels and whatnot.

I so wish Callum and RayK would have been in the first two seasons as well, as I actually prefer Benny to Fraser and I prefer the overall plots, but the characterization sucked. You could kinda see that Paul didn't have many ideas for plots anymore, but he really cared for the other characters and actors and so gave the other characters substance.

Maybe Callum could share some chemistry with Edward and Bella. :D

If Callum had been in the first couple of seasons... that would have been amazing.

It was kinda like Fraser was the only character who got to have that and that all the others were just there to show us how Fraser is and feels and whatnot.

I didn't really notice this until you pointed it out, but that is totally true.

I OBVIOUSLY HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE WRONG OUTTAKES. WOWZA.

Yay icons! I need to check all these sites out... :D

If Callum had been in everything I ever watched it would be even more amazing.

Yeah, except for "The Deal" we never get an inside look into RayV. And we never get one into any of the other characters.

But except for Turnbull we get some into all the others in season 3 and 4. And that is great, cause it helped me connect with them.

Don't I just know that feeling. I love Paul and Callum so frikkin much. You can see how they actually had fun. :D
