Six favorite TV theme songs: [meme stolen from
skroberts]
I've decided to cheat. You're only supposed to list six, but I'm listing six that were my favorite as a kid, and six that are my favorites now. I know. I'm a horrible person.
Kid--
1. Garfield and Friends
2. Chip'n'Dale--Rescue Rangers!
3. The original Johnny Quest show
4. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles [the older version]
6. My Little Pony Tales [shut up.]
Now--
1. House, M.D.
2. Firefly
3. NCIS
4. Stargate: Atlantis
5. The Prisoner
6. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
The Wedding Story--
People are milling all around for the wedding. They're all decked out in mostly gorgeous [but there are the occasional OMG SO TACKY outfits that make things exciting] clothing. The bride waits nervously with her father and the wedding planner, peering over the azaleas to see if all her bridesmaids have gotten in place.
Meanwhile, Mom and I crouch nervously in the bushes about twenty feet away, desperately trying to help Drew hammer in poles for mosquito-repellant torches [always a necessity for a Southern wedding, but forgotten by the groom's mother] before the ceremony starts.
Meanwhile we're getting the stink-eye from the caterers and the people at the bar. However, we're cool with the band. They give us a thumbs-up. They don't like mosquitos any more than we do.
We just barely finish hammering that torch in when the ceremony starts. We dash over to put up another one, hammering as quietly as it is possible to hammer a metal pole into rather solid dirt. We finish, and stand up to see if anyone noticed us, only to lock gazes with a man, possibly with the band, in the process of taking off his clothes in the woods. We all smile and wave and move on, quickly, averting our eyes.
Once all the torches got put in place, Drew and I get into position, waiting for the signal to move in on the wedding. Our job is to take the chairs that everyone had been sitting in for the ceremony and place them around the tables so people could sit and eat. As 50 gazillion wedding guests stream past us, we and the other two movers dash in and grabbed four chairs each. Eighty chairs later, my arms are like to fall off, and I am [attractively, of course] sweating like a pig.
So Drew and I go inside, to wait for either Mom or the wedding planner to tell us what to do. Mom dashes by, snagging Drew to go move a table for her. I get snagged by the ginormously tall policeman on duty for the wedding, Officer Fields. He gives me a hug [I come to just about above his waist when he hugs me]. Meanwhile, people in lovely clothing and various stages of inebriation stagger past us. "People will get their drink on," he philosophizes.
Then Drew and I go into the kitchen, snagging some salmon thingies and ending up next to a poor lonely crate of strawberries that someone left all alone. We decided to keep it company a while.
Then Drew took me home.
And for all that, I got paid. Life is good.

Date: 2005-06-26 06:00 am (UTC)We... just had other things on our minds! Nekkid Band Member ranked about no. 30 on our list of things to worry about.
[Does it make me callous and evil to note that the band was actually better after he... left?]
Yeah, my mind so made the nakedbandmember - Sora/palmtree connection.
*snerk* Gee, thanks, now I have a REALLY great mental image going of Nekkid Band Member... :P
