I got up early to get ready for church this morning.

When I was all dressed and ready, I sat on my bed to read some more of my book. Cleo, my psychotic cat who is now on happy pills, came bounding into the room, something tightly held in her mouth. It was small and dark. My first thought was that she'd stolen food or something from one of the dogs.

She jumped up on her bed and dropped it and looked at me. "Meraw!" she said, expectantly.

I inched my way across the room. There, on her kitty bed, was... a vole. A small burrowing rodent slightly reminiscent of a mole. Which she somehow managed to catch... inside the house.

"Merree?"

"Uh, yes, that's... uh... Dad?"

"Mee!" She purred loudly, and picked it up in her mouth, only to drop it again and swat it with her paw. It lay limp on her blanket. And then it started twitching crazily. "Mrree! Meeer me!"

"Yes, I see your pretty-- DAAAD!"

"Meee? Mrre?" She purred, and licked and swatted the vole. "Mrrp! Mreee!"

"DAD! I NEED HELP!"

Finally he came. "What's up?"

"Cleo's got a dead vole, and she wants to eat it, but it's all weird and convulsing, and I'm afraid it's poisoned, so would you mind terribly if I asked you to watch her and make sure she doesn't eat it while I grab something to dispose of it with?"

"Sure."

I ran to the bathroom to grab a washrag with which to deal with Mr Vole. While I was gone, Dad decided to distract her by singing the ABC's in Operatic fashion.

"Aaaaaaaaay beeehehehee SEEEEHEEEE deeehehehe..."

"Mree? Meh? Mrrrerrroo?"

"Eeeehehehehiheee Efffffffffuh Geeeeeheeehehehee..."

"Mrrr? Prrrt? Ree?"

I got back and relieved Dad of his solemn duty and disposed of Mr Vole, to the protestations of the Mighty Hunter Cat. Life is never boring when I'm at home. :P



UNIQUE
1. Nervous Habits: I pick on and around my fingernails. I also chew on my lips. Sometimes I tap my fingers.
2. Are you double jointed: In my fingers, yes, apparently. I used to get reamed out by my piano teacher for it.
3. Can you roll your tongue: Yup.
4. Can you raise one eyebrow at a time: Yes! I can raise both my left and my right independant of each other. *gloat*
5. Can you blow spit bubbles: Yep. However. I don't think I've done so since I was six.
6. Can you cross your eyes: Yep!
7. Tattoos: *shudders* Nope.
8. Piercings: Just the ears.
9. Do you make your bed daily: At school, yes. At home, eh. Not really.

CLOTHES
10. Which shoe goes on first: Usually the right shoe, but it's really whichever one I grab first.
11. Speaking of shoes, have you ever thrown one at anyone: Heck to the yeah. Good times, good times.
12. On the average, how much money do you carry: Um. On average... none. It's fun being broke.
13. What jewelry do you wear 24/7: None? I wear my watch, but that's not really jewelry...
14. Favorite piece of clothing: My pyjama pants!

FOOD
15. Do you twirl your spaghetti or cut it: Twirl, of course. Nothing's more annoying than cut spaghetti.
16. Have you ever eaten Spam: Unfortunately I can answer yes to that. Ewww. *gag*
17. Favorite ice cream flavor: Mint chocolate chip or coffee.
18. How much cereal is in your cabinet: None, in my cabinet. Maybe two in my pantry.
19. What's your favorite beverage: Cranberry Juice Cocktail
20. What's your favorite restaurant: MOE'S! And Zaxby's [Yay Zaxby's!]. And places that serve steak.
21. Do you cook: If it requires a microwave, yes. I can make limited cookies/breads in the oven. That's about it.

GROOMING
22. How often do you brush your teeth: Gah. I either forget and brush only once a day or get all compulsive about it and brush a gazillion times.
23. Hair drying method: Depends. If I've got a few hours, it can air dry. If I've got a few minutes, blow dry.
24. Have you ever colored / highlighted your hair: Once, I put green Kool-Aid in my hair to try to change its color. My hair was too dark to show a change, but it got all sticky and gross. Good times, good times.

MANNERS
25. Do you ever swear? If the situation merits it. Not usually around other people.
26. Do you ever spit: I spit my toothpaste into the sink. Any spitting other than that is teh nasteh. *gag*

FAVORITE

28. Foods: red meat, mashed potatoes, bread, pasta, dark chocolate

31. Cartoon: Freakazoid! or old-school Bugs and Daffy. Especially if they're directed by Chuck Jones. *is a geek*

36. TV show: Lost, NCIS, House MD, Firefly, Angel, MST3K with Joel, MASH
37. Thing to do in the spring: Hammock time! And puddle-jumping. ;)
38. Thing to do in the summer: Watch tons of bad horror movies. [Amen to that. And hammock time!]
39. Thing to do in the fall: Hammock time! Also, the Fair. Wooo Tilt-A-Whirl. Booo Gravitron.
40. Thing to do in the winter: Hammo-- wait, no. My favorite thing is to curl up under lots of blankets near a fire and read. Eww, cold weather.

IN AND AROUND
41. On the CD player/iPod/Computer: Action!Obi, a guardian pineapple, Glassworks, Earthbeat, Graceland
42. Person you talk most on the phone with: Umm... Samantha or Ashley.
44. Do you regularly check yourself out in store windows and mirrors: Depends on how I'm feeling, I guess.
45. What color is your bedroom: Right now, an off-white. But in the next few weeks that'll change to an almost-China blue.
46. Do you use an alarm clock: At school, yeah. I still haven't gotten around to plugging in my clock here. For right now, Dad wakes me up, either by actually waking me up or by making breakfast very loudly in the kitchen next to my room. Love ya, Dad.
47. Window seat or aisle: Doesn't matter. I'm usually reading when I travel, so my mind's not on the seat. But it's nice to have a whole bus seat to one's self

LA LA LAND
48. What's your sleeping position: Before I go to sleep, side. When I'm asleep, stomach.
49. Even in hot weather do you use a blanket: No. I hate being hot. If it's really hot, I use a sheet.
50. Do you snore: Only if I'm congested.
51. Do you sleepwalk: Not... that I know of. *is creeped out*
52. Do you talk in your sleep: Again, I don't think so.
53. Do you sleep with stuffed animals: No. I sleep with a smallish pillow with red thread eyes named Baba. Shut up.
54. How about with the light on: I like as little light as possible. In school, my room's practically daylit, but at home it's pitch-black, just the way I like it.
55. Do you fall asleep with the TV or radio on: Nope. I like silence.

It looks a lot like a mole, small and black with a stubby tail. It's about the size of a small mouse. We've got a lot of them around our house.

Don't feel stupid! I didn't know what a vole was before I moved to this house! :D
