So, Emily? I saw "Garden State." Finally.

In fact, we went into GameStop to buy Halo2 for my brother and it was in the movie rack, on sale, so we bought it ON YOUR WORD ALONE. You so rock. [!!!!!!!!!] [No, really. !!!!!!!!!!]

I now have a new favorite movie. [And so does my mom... I foresee us watching it many many times in the future.] It's just so... amazing! The way it's filmed, the acting [Natalie Portman can act? Who knew?], the directing, all of it combining into a perfect whole that makes me want to spend all of my waking hours watching it over and over and over. Heh. But really. Thanks. *huggles you*

I went to the Hank Williams museum today with Samantha. It was amazing how many of the songs Dad sang to me when I was a wee sprout were Hank's. Just hearing the opening bars sent me back to a wraparound screen porch with my dad's guitar softly playing in the moist night air.

The museum itself was pretty cool. Well... except for the whole "This is the suit in which Hank Williams DIED!" "This is the car in which Hank Williams DIED!" "This is the toothpaste I was brushing my teeth with when Hank Williams DIED!" thing. Also not cool was the fact that Samantha and I got called out for being from Millbrook. Yeah. And that guy who followed close behind us, breathing heavily. That was extremely not cool. But the rest of it was!

Here's the bad part. We also went to HW's gravesite. It's got this massive memorial tombstone, together with, of all things, astroturf covering the surrounding ground. Yeah. I don't know. And... oh, man... a sign reading "Please do not desecrate this sacred place" or something. We looked at it. There was a moment's pause. And then... I'd hate to think what some random person driving by would have seen-- two college age girls nearly dying with laughter on the grave of, of all people, HANK WILLIAMS. *sigh* I felt wretched afterwards, but just thinking of it still cracks me up. Still, my record is at least better than that of my parents, who went with extended family and... danced on his grave. While singing his songs. Yeah. Maybe it runs in the family?
