Considering my past experiences with PriMed, I was shall we say warily expectant that I’d end up piddling my entire day away in some godforsaken spit of land exam room in some godforsaken corner of hell the medical facility.

I ended up being pleasantly surprised.

Nurse:: Hi. I’m going to take your weight and temperature and stuff while beaming broadly at you.

Alex: …

Nurse:: *BEAM*

Alex: Urm. Do I have the right PriMed? Aren’t you supposed to be surly and down-putting?

Nurse:: We’re under new management. Now come on into Exam Room 1. Let me ask you questions in an efficient and business-like manner.

Alex: Hehe, right. Sure you are, if by "efficiant and business-like" you mean "surly and confusing," right?

Nurse:: *asks questions in an efficient and business-like manner* Now then, the doctor will be right in to see you.

Alex: Hehe, very funny. You got me. This is where you leave me to rot in the exam room for an hour, right?

[Exit Nurse, enter Doctor immediately.]

Doctor: Sorry if there was a wait!

Alex: ...Who are you and what have you done with my PriMed?!


So the long and short of it all is that we were in and out in less than an hour. And that’s with a sinus x-ray and a chest x-ray. Fantastic! And they gave me free antibiotics. The doctor even joked with me!

Doctor: So got any travel plans for this summer?

Mom: Well, actually, she’s going to London! With her school!

Doctor: No way! I think my school went to Peoria or something. So you going anywhere fun in London?

Alex: [Long list of fun and literary places]

Doctor: ...I think you’re not well enough to travel without a personal physician.

Alex and Mom: ...

Doctor: *laughs* And of course, that’d be me, right?

Alex and Mom: OHHHH. Okay. Heh. That was a joke. Right, then. Gotcha. Funny!



And that was about the extent of my physical activity for the day. I went back to my room and slept fitfully through lunch, waking up long enough to watch White Oleander until dinner.


Also. My brother is a spaz.

Alex: So, the new Doctor, you recognize him? Barty Crouch, Jr? The new Harry Potter movie?

Danny: Oh, so that guy's British?

Alex: ...Yes, anyone on Harry Potter’s British.

Danny: ...ALAN RICKMAN IS BRITISH?!!

Alex: Um, yeah? What’d you think?

Danny: I just thought he was deep-voiced.
