So, despite popular belief, I am alive.
Of course, I'm stuck abed with a racking cough, but hey! At least I'm home and finals are done with, right?
I had to go to PriMed. I'm convinced now that they just watch for me to come, and then compete to see how long they can make us wait this time.
So, now, the newest episode in the Continuing Adventures of Alex--
Alex: *horrible racking cough*
Mom: Hm, you feel warm. *takes temperature*
Thermometer: *esplodes*
Mom: Hmm.
[Next morning, it's off to PriMed at 10:00!]
PriMed: We're no longer affiliated with any hospitals! Fill out gads of forms! Wait in our waiting room with surly old men and germ-infested children for an hour and a half!
We: *do so*
An hour and a half: *passes*
[Finally a nurse comes out. She calls me "sweetie" and takes all my vitals. Then she sequesteres us in Exam Room 3. Right next to the screaming baby, who will scream and wail for the next two and a half hours. Continuously. You'd think he'd have to stop for breath, but noooooooo. All he did was scream, scream, scream. .... Ahem. On with the story.]
We: *wait in room for an hour*
Doctor: Heylemmelookinyoureyelistentoyourlungsyeahyouneedachestx-rayg'bye! *skedaddles*
Mom: What'd he say?
Alex: *shrug*
Nurse: Here, put on this horribly embarrassing hospital gown. We're going to take chest x-rays now.
We: *wait in hallway for, like, ever*
Nurse: *ignores my attempts not to fall down and cough myself unconscious*
We: *wait some more*
Nurse: So apparently they have to x-ray all that guy's ribs. We'll be back for you in a few! Exam Room 3, take a right, it's right there.
Alex: *staggers back to Exam Room 3*
[45 minutes later]
Creepy Male Orderly: Hey, come on with me, we're going to take a good look at your chest now. I mean, uh, with x-rays and stuff. I mean. Not, like, your actual chest or anything.
Alex: ...
Alex's Chest: *gets a-scanned*
Creepy Male Orderly: You can go back to your room now. Exam Room 3, okay? Just down the hall, take a right, and you're there.
Alex: *goes back to room, curls up on exam bed, and tries to sleep despite the musical stylings of next-door-neighbor Screaming Baby*
Time: *passes like whoa*
Doctor: *appears* Soyou'vegotbronchitis,here'sfreedrugsamplesg'bye! *disappears*
Mom: What?
Creepy Male Orderly: So, you've got bronchitus, no work or leaving the house or even moving omg liek whoa for the next few days, now let me tell you my life story.
Alex: ...
Mom: So, she can't come work for me in freezing weather outside tomorrow?
Creepy Male Orderly: Uh, no, that'd be a negative.
We: *depart quick-like*
Alex: *sleeps and watches DVDs and works on fanfic and sleeps and reads Dean Koontz and the Spoon River Anthology and sleeps*
So that's what I've been up to, pretty much. Yay Christmas holidays!

Date: 2005-12-14 02:16 pm (UTC)Man, i sure hope you get better and I'm glad finals are over for you. I TOTALLY understand about the waiting, tho. I had to do about that same thing at the emergency room from like 1-5:30am and then had to stop on the side of the road on the way home to puke my guts out...again. ;_;
GET BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Date: 2005-12-15 04:51 am (UTC)Yeah, I had the same thing happen in an emergency room this semester. I was having some sort of breathing problem, and I'm just glad I didn't stop breathing or anything as I waited hours for them to get to me.
Good luck with your finals!
