So, Dennis.

Gah. I am not happy. Anyone out there who lives in the path of the storm, stay safe. Don’t… go out walking in the middle of it. Just… stay safe.

I got to help board up windows today at Mom’s office. Fun stuff!

Tomorrow I get to wake up early and board up windows here. More fun!

Except not.

Dad thinks it’ll come straight towards here. Luckily, if it does, we’re prepped. I’m just worried about all the people I know who can’t do without electricity, like my grandparents. *sigh*

We introduced Dad and Danny to Sixth Sense tonight. Dad guessed the major plot twist about fifteen minutes in. Loser. Danny spent the whole time going, “What was that? What’d he say? Why is that important? What does that mean? Where are they going? What was that? Why did he do that? He’s a what? I don’t understand. Where are they now? Why? Who? What? What was that? I’m confused.” Loser.

I love ‘em both, but gah.

Just in case we lose power for a week like we did with Ivan, I’m going to go ahead and post the answers to that meme.

1) “I’m a writer. I give the truth scope!”

A Knight’s Tale. Love that quote.

2) "I didn't ask to see you. I don't mind if you don't like my manners, I don't like them myself. They are pretty bad. I grieve over them on long winter evenings. I don't mind your ritzing me drinking your lunch out of a bottle. But don't waste your time trying to cross-examine me."

The Big Sleep. Mmm, Bogart. And Bacall. And lots of snark and banter.

3) “I have something to say about the difference between American and European cities. But I've forgotten what it is. I have it written down at home though.”

True Stories. I’m probably the only person in the world who’s seen it, sadly.

4) “Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.”

OMG The Adventures of Baron Munchausen! So. Good. Beautiful and crazy. And this is one of my favorite all-time quotes.

5) “I'm afraid. I'm afraid, [name]. [name], my mind is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My mind is going.”

2001: A Space Odyssey. Words fail to describe how insanely much I love this movie. Even the last 30 minutes of it. That’s what the FF button is for.

6) “Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room.”

Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. Great, great movie.

7) “Do you have a lissance for your mankey?”

*snicker* Return of the Pink Panther. One of the best scenes EVER.

8) “Sweet Jesus, [name]--they left his heart!”

O Brother, Where Art Thou? Awww, his face… When Dolmer’s scared or sad, I’m scared or sad.

9) “My brains, his steel, and your strength against sixty men, and you think a little head jiggle is supposed to make me happy?”

Princess Bride.

10) “Wait, don't open that. It's an alien planet. Is there air? You don't know!”

Galaxy Quest. As [livejournal.com profile] jolinarcarter put it, MONK IN SPACE!

11) “I'm shakin' the dust of this crummy little town off my feet and I'm gonna see the world. Italy, Greece, the Parthenon, the Colosseum. Then, I'm comin' back here to go to college and see what they know. And then I'm gonna build things. I'm gonna build airfields, I'm gonna build skyscrapers a hundred stories high, I'm gonna build bridges a mile long...”

Awww. It’s a Wonderful Life. Never fails to make me feel warm-and-fuzzy. Or maybe that’s just James Stewart. [LOVE.]

12) “You wouldn't think she'd been gone so long, would you? Sometimes, when I walk along the corridor, I fancy I hear her just behind me. That quick light step, I couldn't mistake it anywhere. It's not only in this room, it's in all the rooms in the house. I can almost hear it now. Do you think the dead come back and watch the living?.”

Rebecca. My favorite Hitchcock movie. *shudders* Danvers is scary.

Thanks to all who played!

Wow.

I've never even heard of some of those.

I'm so uncultured! *sob*

And I should have known A Knight's Tale. *kicks self*

Don't worry. Most of them are amazingly obscure.

Hehe. I really do love that quote. But it might have something to do with the fact that it's Paul Bettany saying it... *shrugs*

BTW, do you happen to have 2001: A Space Odyssey? I... haven't seen it, despite my laptop being named what it is.

*huggles* Thanks!

It wasn't that bad. It broke up and slowed down way before it hit us. We only lost power once, and that was for about a minute. Woo!

No, but I was planning on buying it--I just needed a reason other than, "Hey, this movie is cool, I should buy it," which is my reason all the time anyway. You've given me the perfect excuse to buckle down and get it! It's really one of those movies you have to see.

Also sounds like something Monk would say. ;)
