I love my family. We're all crazy.
Me: Hey, Mom, can you put in the DVD for me? My hands are full.
Mom: Oh, ok. Sure.
[We all sit down]
[We stare at blank screen]
[I turn DVD player on; it flashes "NO DISK"]
Me: Uh... Mom? Didn't you put a disk in?
Mom: What?
Me: Didn't I ask if you could put in the DVD for me?
Mom: Did you?
Me: You said, "Sure!"
Mom: Oh, I thought you said something else.
Danny: Did you say "Alice?"
Ah, nothing like family to... uh... [..drive you up the wall? ...make you gnash your teeth? ...confuse you even unto death?] ...make you feel right at home. Or something.
In other Alex news...
Mom: Ok, can I tell you something if you promise that it won't make you nervous?
[Let me just say that this is just about the worst way to start a conversation ever, in my opinion, except for possibly "Hey, funny thing about that [valuable item-- book, clothes, pets, siblings] you lent me..." All it can serve to do is make me nervous.]
Turns out her "boys" that work for her up at Lanark weren't going to be able to make it tomorrow. Then she said I'd be up there, working. They all magically were able to come. Should I be a-scared? I'm thinking so.

Date: 2004-12-16 09:39 pm (UTC)Uh... Let me think... They're all somewhere near my age... give or take a year or so. Drew's a freshman at Troy State, Josh is... uh... somewhere around my age, Taylor is a... sophomore? Or a junior? Dennis is a few years older.
Nothing like being dirty and sweaty to look great for the guys, right?
