Sartori time

So I'm in Wal-Mart, trying to shove my way through hordes of crazed consumers [band name, but not as good as salad revolution], trying to ignore my brother [gah, I shall strangle him, see if I don't]... He annoyed me so much I had to go off and look in the book section to keep from doing something that I'd only regret later. On my way back, I ran into two people I graduated with. People who kinda treated me like a talking dog ["Oh, how cute-- it talks!"] back in high school. And I realised that I'd moved beyond that. It didn't matter one jot what they thought of me in school. Or what I'd thought of them. It didn't matter.
These people used to leave me tongue-tied, nervous, and awkward. Tonight I was able just to talk. I was even able to make a joke or two. We parted amicably, and I went back to the shopping cart [and back to being glared at by Danny]. I've changed since high school... and boy, am I glad.
