Jan. 15th, 2008 07:10 pmAnyone know anything more about this? Studios Cancel Writers' Contracts
I can't find anything about it at the WGA site, or any major news site. But it seems like something people would be upset about. Is it true? Or is the internets just getting ahead of itself again?
I don't want to think about if it is true. But if it were true, wouldn't there be at least a little buzz about it? :\

Date: 2008-01-16 03:07 am (UTC)I think this season is basically over and done with even if it's not officially cancelled. I resigned myself to that awhile ago, but I didn't really think about the long-term effects, especially the ones that might hurt NEXT season. Uh, I need my Grey's Anatomy, people.

Date: 2008-01-16 03:17 am (UTC)I'm lucky; a few of my shows had done a whole season's worth of filming before the strike, so I'm not in complete television withdrawal just yet. But still. The guys in charge are cutting off their noses to spite their faces. They are the ones being the most hurt by this in the long run. Is it really that hard to negotiate?

Either 1.) shows can get in at least a few more episodes in before the normal finale season ends. Go on normal summer hiatus. And come back as normal.
Or 2.) Productions run into the summer to complete the typical 22 season order. (Though I do see this as less of a possibility, because it would kind of ruin the usual schedules for when they start their fall work and just throw the whole schedule off. I could see them running a little into the summer, but run too long and it puts it back to back with the coming season, no break in-between.)

Date: 2008-01-16 02:13 pm (UTC)Which... not so much. If that were the case, there'd be a massive outcry. And even more ad slots would be yanked, and yeah. Brain not working too well right now, but something along those lines.
But I wanted to make sure that he was wrong, because I couldn't find much online either way, and he seemed pretty adamant about it.
Both of your options were pretty much what I figured was going to happen, option one being the definitely more likely. I'm just excited that some of my shows still have episodes left. I'd fully expected to have to make it through January and February on reruns and DVDs. And for most of the shows I watch, they made it so the last eps they had would work as a season finale.
I'm not sure if any of that made sense, but yeah.
