You know that Beatles song “I’m So Tired?” That’s me. God, that’s me.

I love when I actually wake up from a nap feeling refreshed instead of feeling like I just rose from the dead. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I hate you forever and you are dead to me, because that's just not fair. Almost every time I take a nap, I wake up and my mouth is so dry I feel like I've been eating sand and my eyes feel like I've rubbed persimmons in them, and my whole head aches. Not exactly refreshing, you know? And it doesn’t matter how long I nap. I fall asleep in the car for five minutes, BAM—I feel like a revenant. But every once in a while, like this morning, I’m able to take a nap and wake up almost able to function in society. Crazy, no?

One of my favorite quotes from a chick flick ever comes from You’ve Got Mail. [sigh… so good] Joe Fox says, “Do you ever feel like you’ve become the worst version of yourself?” Sometimes I wonder. Heh… and now a song is stuck in my head…

“And I wonder… I wah wah wah wah wohunder…
Why… a whyayayayay she ran awayeay
And I wonder….. where she will stayeeay…
My little runaway, a runrunrunrun a runaway…”

This is my problem! I have no attention span! When I’m focused on something, I’m totally focused… when I still took aikido, the teacher worried about me because I’d get this intense stare when he’d talk about new moves. And yet… I get distracted easily too. I’m not really sure how this works, and it drives me crazy… My memory is like a sieve half of the time… I get teased a lot because I write important things on my hand. How else can I remember them? I’ll sometimes forget, when I’m arguing with someone, what the whole point of the argument was… If a book has too many characters, I have to cast it with actors or else I forget who is who. I forget conversations sometimes while I’m still having them. And yet… I remember many things clearly. Spanish test? No problem, give me some flashcards and thirty minutes and I’m good to go. I watch movies and I’m quoting lines after one viewing. I can remember what happened in practically every book I’ve read. Ever.

Is this wrong? Should I worry? Is it bad that I’ve had to check a few times to see what it is I’m writing about after I got distracted by the person in heels upstairs clipping along the hallway? Or that I’ve had about twelve or so different songs stuck in my head today and I can barely remember a few of them now?

*sigh*

Ooh, candy! Yay!
