Ah... A day in the life of a fangeek.

SQUEEEEE!

The new trailer for Hitchhiker's Guide is out!

The Ice Fishing ad for Toasted Subs came on tonight!

That Guy from Atlantis was on Lost tonight!

Samuels from SG-1 was on the Smallville rerun!

Dr Gray read my poem in front of the whole class! [on the one day I didn't come to class!]

Concert plans!

I am amazingly happy right now!

ETA: Sarah informs me that That Guy's name is Sumner. Just to set the record straight. ;)

Woo! What poem?

Here it is... of course, when she graded it, she totally slashed out some of my favorite parts... but eh. I'll probably keep them in anyway.

The Snow Queen
You’ve changed.
I don’t recognize the boy I knew,
My closest friend, in you.

Don’t you remember all the times we had?
On the swingsets in the playground
Making popcorn in a bonfire
Riding our bikes through the creek
Waging our wars in the sandbox

But you’re too grown up now.
You’ve moved on.
You’ve put your childish dreams and toys away.

And me with them.

I like.

Any particular reason it is titled "The Snow QUEEN?" Did you leave in the parts that she slashed out?

[identity profile] stoopbeck.livejournal.com 2005-02-17 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I posted the original version. It's twelve lines and the slashed version is, I think, six... so yeah. I'll take what she said into consideration... Maybe I'll post the chopped version later...

The title is an allusion. The assignment was to take the title of a fairy tale and write a modern memoir-type version of said fairy tale. The story of "The Snow Queen": Demons make a mirror that shows the ugly side of everything. It breaks and pieces rain down on earth. On earth are two best friends, a boy and a girl, "as close as brother and sister but not brother and sister" or something like that. A sliver falls into the boy's eye and his heart. He no longer sees the beauty in anything, and gets lured away by the Snow Queen, who promises him perfection in numbers and mathematics. He leaves the girl. She has to battle hardship on her quest to win him back.

And thanks!

Don't ya just love guest actors?

[identity profile] stoopbeck.livejournal.com 2005-02-17 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
I <3 guest actors! Especially when they cross fandoms!

[identity profile] stoopbeck.livejournal.com 2005-02-17 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You know what I love even more? The guy? The twitchy guy on the Smallville rerun? He played the grown-up version of Jake Sisko on an episode of DS9. So that's two fandoms crossed in one ep! Woo!

Sammuels... didn't he play Chloe's dad?

Hee... yes!
