Sartori time

Hmm...

So I'm in Wal-Mart, trying to shove my way through hordes of crazed consumers [band name, but not as good as salad revolution], trying to ignore my brother [gah, I shall strangle him, see if I don't]... He annoyed me so much I had to go off and look in the book section to keep from doing something that I'd only regret later. On my way back, I ran into two people I graduated with. People who kinda treated me like a talking dog ["Oh, how cute-- it talks!"] back in high school. And I realised that I'd moved beyond that. It didn't matter one jot what they thought of me in school. Or what I'd thought of them. It didn't matter.

These people used to leave me tongue-tied, nervous, and awkward. Tonight I was able just to talk. I was even able to make a joke or two. We parted amicably, and I went back to the shopping cart [and back to being glared at by Danny]. I've changed since high school... and boy, am I glad.

Can I be nosy and ask who they were?

No.

Just kidding. Magan and Nolan.

*shrug*

Ooh, look! It's a talking dog. Maybe it can help me with my homework!

Ah. I was anticipating a cheerleader or something. M & N weren't that bad...

But...yay for not caring about petty high school crap anymore.

Just you saying the word "Wal-Mart" brought back all the suppressed rage I harbor against them. I was in there the other day with mom, and we tried (damned our presumptuous foolhardiness) to go through the self-checkout to get some bread and milk. Well, it gives us its spiel about how the bread that I had just scanned did not register, even though the price showed up on the screen. Scanning it again produced twice the quantity of bread that we intended to purchase. @%$&%&*$%^#$#!!!!! Well, I gave that up, found a human to check us out, and ranted all the way home about how hard it is to get a damn loaf of bread and a ninja turtle folder or some Metabolite in this crazy mixed up world conglomerate. It wouldn't infuriate me so much if I didn't KNOW how much MONEY they have and how they can damn well AFFORD to HIRE HUMANS. Plus, they are putting every other small businessman out of work. I say it's time for the revival of "Down with Wal-Mart", a catchy bandname/boycott slogan.

Sorry to rant in your lj. But they just get me so...::twitch::

Woo! I also hate the self-checkout. But you know who loves it? My grandmother. Go figure. I tried to tell her about our horrific self-checkout experiences, but I don't think she believed me. Hee. I told her while we were checking out, and the checkout lady was all, "Hey, yeah, this guy I know loves [random cartoon] and he's always watching it, and he's got posters and action figures and stuff, and it's crazy." We stared, got our bags, and moved on, glad to escape with our lives and our milk and oranges.
