I know, I'm the only one who cares. But seriously! Tintin! As a movie! For real this time!!!

They made a live action move in the 80s, or was it the 90s, I can't remember. I remember watching it on television, and I think it was French.

Something like "Tintin and the Blue Apples" or "The Golden Fleece" or something like that?

Yeah, it was French. And supposedly not so great, but I have yet to see it. I did actually watch several of the cartoons, which were... special.

Hopefully they won't botch the new one. *crosses fingers*

I do care. Well, I am European. We love Tintin.

Or at least I do.

I hope it will turn out well and won't disappoint too much.

Well, I figured YOU might care. :] But seriously, Tintin means nothing to the majority of Americans. It's depressing.

I hope it turns out well, too. If not, well, I'll always have screencaps, right?

I guess it all depends when they set it. If they do like they're doing with the Nancy Drew movie, setting it in the present and changing the wardrobe to match, I'll have to despise it on principle. :]

I would not mind if they put it in the present. But only if they do it right. Which they probably won't, because it is so much harder to do that and still stay true to the characters and do it right and all, so they better stick close to the comics.

I don't know Nancy Drew.

Do you know Asterix?

[identity profile] stoopbeck.livejournal.com 2007-03-14 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, I agree with that. If they could update it in such a way that fit with the stories (and really, which one would you pick if you could pick any Tintin album? I have no idea), I think that could work.

Nancy Drew was a book series, from the fifties, about a young independent girl solving all of a city's crimes. The movie looks like Clueless.

ASTERIX!! Asterix and Obelisk = SO MUCH LOVE

Well, I would not pick any of them. I just don't think it is impossible to make it and still do the original justice. But it is much more work than leaving it in the proper time.

Ouch. I think that is a bit like Das Fliegende Klassenzimmer. They did one in the 50s that was really good and close to the book. Then they made on in the 70s, which is just totally unwatchable and one in 2001, which is done better, but still can't do the book real justice.

YAY! You know Asterlix. You are made of so much awesome.

I was so in love with Idefix. I wanted a dog like him. And all I got was a stuffed version.
